Taxonomic notes:

Subgenus Pareremias

Distribution: Erroneously reported from E-Mongolia (fide ZHAO & ADLER 1993); very similar to E. argus. GÜNTHER (1873, in J. L. BRENCHLEY: 396) gave the type locality as the district of Mongolia called `The Land of Grass` (or Steppes), but the species is not known from Mongolia. Not in Russia fide SINDACO & JEREMCENKO 2008.
